The CPA Ontario and T.E.C.O Partnership
In 2001, the Canadian Paraplegic Association Ontario became aware of the
outstanding accomplishments of Taiwan·s First Lady Wu Shu-chen,
who has become an international voice for Taiwan and its ongoing democracy
movement, even after being paralyzed from the waist down in a car accident
in 1985.
In December
2002, the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Canada, representing
the government of Taiwan, offered their support during the development
and organization of Ottawa·s Celebration of People event, which
marked the 10th Anniversary of the International Day of Disable Persons.
TECO hosted the V.I.P Champagne Reception and Charity Auction which was
a fabulous success raising over $10 000 for local CPA programs and services.
During the
Celebration of People Awards Dinner held on the 10th Anniversary of the
International Day of Disabled Persons, First Lady WU received the International
Excellence in Leadership Award for her outstanding efforts in the international
community to bring peace and democracy to Taiwan.
Since then,
TECO has continued to support our organization, assisting us in fulfilling
our mission.
